African Lion

Flamingo Land has nine African lions, in the wild they can be found in the grassy plains and savannah of Southern Africa. Only the male grows a mane this makes it easy to spot the sex of the lion. These animals have a very strong body build this helps them hunt for food by chasing the prey at fast speeds. Males can grow up to 8ft long and can weigh up to 550 pounds. Lions can live up to 14 years in the wild but in zoos they can live till 20+
Did You Know…
Lions have very rough tongues designed to peel skin off their prey, Lions can sprint at up to 50 miles per hour!
Diet – Carnivores, they hunt for wildebeest, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and antelope.
Threat Status – Venerable
