The Luckiest Sponsor in Football League History?
Flamingo Land Resort and Theme Park based in Yorkshire could go down in history as being the luckiest sponsor in English football if both teams that they are associated with achieve promotion to the Premier League.
Flamingo Land appears on the shirts of both Middlesbrough FC and Hull City Tigers FC. Middlesbrough were promoted to the top tier of English football on Saturday 7th May and Hull City Tigers FC have the chance of promotion on May 28th at Wembley in the Championship Play-Off final, the richest game of football in the world. The winners of which, will grab between £150 – £200 million in extra revenue.
Flamingo Land has been inundated with numerous requests from other sports clubs hoping that the Company logo will bring them similar success. Park owner, Gordon Gibb said “when we announced our sponsorship of Middlesbrough and Hull we were described as the weirdest sponsor in the history of the game, but as people have begun to learn more about our Resort, the industry experts are now calling it one of the best partnerships that they have seen. Either way, we are delighted that Middlesbrough has achieved promotion to the Premiership and wish Hull the very best for their play-off final next Saturday. Assisting 2/3 of all promoted teams to the English Premier League is unprecedented and something that Flamingo Land and myself will take immense pride from!”
